We came up with the idea to start having “painting battles” a little while ago, as a means to warm-up to our processes of abstract painting. We generally have a hard time jumping into our works-in-progress upon arrival to the studio, so we thought this might help our flow a bit.  The rules are simple: black & white paint, ten minutes, and the ability to drop the brush after the alarm sounds.
